Routeburn Track

The Routeburn track runs across both Mount Aspiring National Park and Fiordland National Park in the South Island. In early February 2021, I was lucky enough to complete the walk staying in Routeburn Falls Hut and Lake McKenzie Hut with a group of friends.

Day 1 - Routeburn Shelter to Routeburn Falls Hut

Day 2 - Routeburn Falls hut to Lake Mackenzie hut

After a refreshing night at Routeburn Falls hut, relaxing in the waterfall and me falling in the river several times trying to get astrophotography shots, we set out to Lake Mackenzie hut. The route was varied and interesting, and one day I hope to come back to explore the Valley of the Trolls!

Day 3 - Lake Mackenzie hut to The Divide

Our final day (after more refreshing swimming!) saw us heading out to The Divide, with a stop at Key Summit (felt like it should be named more kea summit with how many we saw swirling around!) Getting to the Divide just as the rain set in saw the end of a perfect long weekend.
